Reporting to the Vice President, Advancement, the Senior Director builds and implements Advancement growth strategies and systems, provides leadership and support to Advancement team members and is part of the CIFAR leadership team. The Senior Director, Advancement demonstrates leadership in cross-institute collaboration, working across departments and teams, as well as transferring knowledge and ideas across the organization. CIFAR is in the planning stages of a major campaign and the Senior Director, Advancement will work closely with the Vice President to lead the team and organization through comprehensive and effective campaign planning and execution. The Senior Director, Advancement will also support the Vice President on strategy and operational development for the department and will provide leadership to the advancement team.
The ideal candidate is a sophisticated, successful advancement leader who can passionately articulate the important role CIFAR plays in supporting fundamental research which addresses every aspect of life and health, individuals and societies, information and matter, and earth and space. Candidates must have proven experience at both raising significant philanthropic donations through either professional or voluntary experience, and with collaborating and supporting academics and researchers. Strong people management skills, an ability to build strong partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders, and an ease communicating with groups of varying size are also required. Experience with all advancement activities from stewardship through solicitation, management of high-level volunteer recruitment and institutional campaign preparedness and execution are required.
