CIFAR Advisor Gérard Bouchard publishes new book

Announcement Successful Societies 05.12.2014

bouchard-pGérard Bouchard, an advisor to CIFAR’s program in Successful Societies, has published a new book delving into the stories that we tell ourselves as cultures, societies and nations. Raison et déraison du mythe: Au Coeur des imaginaires collectifs, published in French by Boréal, looks at the “heart of collective imaginaries,” unravelling which myths are supported by reason and which are not. In it, Bouchard asks questions such as why civil liberties are an essential part of British identity and why the French believe all citizens are equal. Bouchard also looks at why these myths endure and become sacred, resisting criticism.
