Physicist Jeff Sonier focuses on the use of positive muons at TRIUMF to study the local magnetic and electronic properties of materials.
He is particularly interested in applications to the study of high-temperature superconductors, and other strongly correlated electron materials where magnetism plays a central role. Sonier is also actively engaged in studies of synthetic molecular-based systems, whose magnetic properties can be easily modified in a controlled manner.
