Maria is the Director, Government and Public Sector at CIFAR, where she manages partnerships with governments and the public sector to develop, implement and evaluate CIFAR's government and public sector funding strategy.
Prior to CIFAR, Maria was the Managing Director for a social innovation start-up, working with government and private sector partners to build long-term partnerships. Maria has seven years of government experience. She was advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, leading efforts to secure the safe return of Canadians detained abroad.
Provincially, Maria held various roles at the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Francophone Affairs, Office of the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services, and the Office of the Minister of Community and Social Services.
She holds a BA from McGill and a MA in Political Science and International Relations from Wilfrid Laurier University.
