Boys left behind: causes, consequences and future prospects

Have there been changes over the past thirty-five years in the GPA of high school boys and girls that could be linked to their changing work and educational aspirations?

Could these changing aspirations be linked to changes in social norms regarding the roles of men and women? Why should we care about the new gender imbalance in higher education where women now outnumber men?
