The Canadian Association of Physicists has awarded Senior Fellow Matt Dobbs (McGill University) with the 2014 CAP Herzberg Medal for his work designing powerful detector readout systems for telescopes.

Dobbs, a member of the Cosmology & Gravity program, has contributed to many projects that study the early universe using the cosmic microwave background, including the South Pole Telescope and the EBEC telescope, and he is renowned for his work on Transition Edge Sensors.

This is the second award Dobbs has earned in recent weeks; the Canadian Astronomical Society also awarded him the inaugural Dunlap Award for Innovation in Astronomical Research Tools.
