CIFAR Presents: The Walrus Talks Exploration

Watch CIFAR fellows share their knowledge of the universe, from the centre of the Earth to the far reaches of space.

On March 5, CIFAR presented the third of four Walrus Talks. Held at TELUS Spark in Calgary, the theme was Exploration: Understanding our universe, from the centre of the Earth to the far reaches of space.

Inspired by research from across several CIFAR programs, speakers thrilled the audience with their explorations of Mars, dark matter, black holes, and the human mind. 

Speakers included four CIFAR fellows:

Jack Mustard
Co-director of CIFAR’s Earth 4D: Subsurface Science & Exploration and professor at Brown University




Mark Chen
Fellow in CIFAR’s Gravity & the Extreme Universe program and professor at Queen’s University

 

Alona Fyshe
Fellow in CIFAR’s Learning in Machines & Brains program, Canada CIFAR AI Chair, and assistant professor at the University of Alberta


Daryl Haggard
Fellow in CIFAR’s Gravity & the Extreme Universe program and assistant professor at McGill University
