Change Makers: Combating Early Childhood Adversity

Jun 29, 2016

1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Le Germain Hotel,

Calgary, AB

Research has uncovered that a child’s early experiences can have significant impact on their trajectory for health and development. It is well-understood that early life adversity can have an effect on academic achievement levels and that in turn can create disparities in health and well-being over a lifetime.

Join CIFAR and the Alberta Centre for Child, Family and Community Research for a Change Makers symposium that will bring CIFAR Fellows together with leading practitioners to share insights concerning individual vulnerability related to epigenetic changes and the impacts on health and well-being outcomes in the long term.

Through the interactions between practitioners and researchers, discussion will explore how to create research-informed intervention to better reach at risk children in school environments.

The symposium is followed by a networking reception at 4:30 PM.
