The World Happiness Report is a landmark survey of the state of global happiness, edited by CIFAR Distinguished Fellow John Helliwell (University of British Columbia), Richard Layard (London School of Economics), and Jeffrey Sachs (Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University). The Report has gained global recognition as governments, organizations and civil society increasingly use happiness indicators to inform their policy-making decisions. The 2018 report is the sixth edition since 2012. It is published by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network and supported by the Ernesto Illy Foundation.
The roundtable coincides with the launch of the 2018 World Happiness Report, which focuses on migration. The roundtable will bring together Report authors with thought leaders from academia, government, and civil society to discuss the Report’s key findings related to voluntary and involuntary migration, migrant and host population experiences, socioeconomic integration, global urbanization, and other priority issues.
With happiness increasingly considered to be a key measure of social progress and a fundamental goal of public policy, and with migration emerging as a defining feature of the 21st century, this timely and important conversation will enable participants to explore how insights from the Report can drive changes in policy and practice.
